The aim of the EPFL Blue Brain Project (BBP), a Swiss brain research initiative founded and directed by Professor Henry Markram, is to establish simulation neuroscience as a complementary approach alongside experimental, theoretical and clinical neuroscience to understanding the brain, by building the world’s first biologically detailed digital reconstructions and simulations of the mouse brain.
We are looking for a Software Developer to strengthen its simulation and High-Performance Computing team.
Main duties and responsibilities include :
- Design and develop scientific software tools using Python or C++
- Work closely with the end users to implement new features in simulation and circuit building toolchains
- Improve software components for efficient usage of computing resources
- Help scientists to leverage new software features
- Improve overall documentation and testing
Essential skills and experience required :
- Good proficiency in either Python or C++ programming language
- Good understanding of software development methodologies
- Experience using UNIX/Linux operating systems
- Good team player
Preferred :
- Experience with build system and packing of Python or C++ projects
- Knowledge of distributed computing or parallel programming paradigms
- Experience in software development life-cycle including unit testing, version control, debugging and documentation
- Knowledge of libraries and tools used in the scientific computing environment
Profile :
- Master’s degree or equivalent in computer science or related domains
